Artist Statement

Jeanne Freibert

The drive to create and express our psyches are part of being human, and also my motivation to make art. While I may portray a particular state of mind in any given piece, leaving its interpretation up to the viewer is equally important.

We humans live in, and continually interact with the natural world. The awesome forces of nature, and the realms within it, often inform my art- whether as subject, element or background.

Texture intrigues me, and I continually incorporate it into my work. Likewise, I am fascinated by extensive detail. Texture and detail are both dominant themes in my art, sometimes to the point of abstraction. And then there are animals.

Their beauty, idiosyncrasies and personalities are amazing! While portraying animals’ personas in art is much more literal than interpreting the human psyche, it is a delightful endeavor indeed!
