Artist Statement

Janet Baughman

I work in both acrylics and oils and my paintings capture a moment, place or to relive an experience.  My work whether a place remembered from Prince Edward Island or revisiting the dogwoods in Audubon Park in Louisville or my favorite “Fireworks Series, Thunder Over Louisville,” are all based on photos that I’ve taken as we’ve traveled.  My husband, Kendal, and I are fortunate to have traveled in all 50 states and several foreign countries.  Traveling has enabled me to experience many beautiful places to capture in my paintings.
