“For me each painting is a unique creative experience. Typically the compositions are organized around a loose sketch of something representational but from there the painting can go in many and varied directions.
I am what is referred to as a “process oriented” artist as it is the painting development process that I enjoy the most and I never know what the end result will be.
In painting, my interests lie with the compositional elements such as value, texture, color and line. I enjoy creating tension by using high contrasts between all of these and so my work is typically full of complimentary colors, dark and light, and organic with geometric shapes/lines.
Overall I think of the creative process as a dialogue between the artist and their work. I believe in following my intuition, which more often than not, leads my work in surprising and unexpected directions..”
