Connie Sandusky
Human expressions of love, loss, joy, hope, frustration, renewal- my hope is that if the making of the work was healing and life affirming for Connie, it will be worth sharing with you.
Using an intuitive approach to making art, what Connie has to say emerges as she creates. She starts paintings early in the morning, when the world is quiet, and she is most open. She starts making marks with all kinds of tools then graduate to layers of paint. Thoughts and feelings pair naturally with certain color palettes. When something interesting emerges, she stops and contemplates- then develops the composition from there. Connie feels it’s exhilarating to discover and develop ideas this way, and honestly, every time it’s successful feels like a little miracle!
H. Matisse is credited with the phrase “Exactitude is not truth”. Connie appreciates this, as she continues on this 20+ year journey to make art that feels emotionally honest.
